About Phil Beaumont
I live in Fife, close to Dunfermline, pretty central for Knockhill, Larkhall, East Linton and Crail. I have been taking photographs of motorsports for over 3 years now, concentrating on motor bikes, supermoto, motocross, minimoto, and karting. Although I work as a freelance photographer, photography is not my main job, I've got to pay the bills!, I have a diploma in photography, digital photography and lightroom. I have had photos published by various organisations, used in the newspapers, by the BBC, on wildlife web sites, and in calendars. Until recently, I was the press accredited photographer at Knockhill for the Fife Free Press group. My main photography interests are motor sports, wildlife, old buildings and closes. I have been taking photographs all my life, starting with my first SLR in the 70's, a Zenit E. I got my first digital SLR, Canon 350D about 15 years ago. I have stayed with Canon ever since and now use a Canon 5D Mkiv and Canon 70D. |
What I can do for you
I can offer you photos taken at any events, races, track days, corporate etc. I am also available for exclusive work, concentrating only on you or your team or, with notice, providing a specific photo of yourself.
In 2019 I am looking at running a number of motor sports photography workshops. These workshops will last approx. 4 hours and will give guidance on not only taking the photographs but also on operating cameras. The workshops will be run as a group or can be on a 1 to 1 basis. Please contact for details.
If you're interested in purchasing photos or my services, email or PM me with details, for photos i will check if i have any of you. Draft photos would normally be emailed to you for your perusal, these photos are at about 40% quality and contain a watermark across them. Final photos are emailed to you or posted on DVD, high resolution, 300dpi, with no writing on them.

To Be Aware of when downloading from sites such as facebook
Some folk have asked me about file sizes and quality, in general the larger the file size the more detail there is, it does vary between file types however, the most common file type is jpeg. A JPEG file is an image saved in a compressed graphic format standardized by the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG). It supports up to 24-bit color and is compressed using lossy compression, which... may noticeably reduce the image quality if high amounts of compression are used. JPEG files are commonly used for storing digital photos and web graphics.
Using the example photo below
I took the photos in RAW format, file size is about 62mb,
the draft photo and the one uploaded to facebook is about 2mb,
the Hi Def if purchased is about 15mb,
a downloaded version from FB is 0.3mb.
Download is fine if its for viewing on your PC, tablet or phone however if you want to print, resize larger, print on canvas etc. then please, and I don't care where from, buy a high resolution image.
